Good Monday bloggers,
We have been tracking three systems this week. The first one moved through this morning with rain showers that brought a trace to .10" of rain. Our nice weather this afternoon will last through Tuesday ahead of our second storm system of the week, or now the first we are tracking of the week. Let's go through this.
TUESDAY: It will be a cool and calm night as a surface high pressure moves by. Lows will be around 40. The afternoon will be mostly sunny with highs in the 60s with a light wind as the surface high pressure drifts away.
WEDNESDAY: The next storm arrives and at this moment it looks like it will take a more south track. So, this puts I-70 on the northern edge. So, northern Missouri may hardly see a drop while along I-70 may see a trace to .25". Heavy rain will fall across southern Kansas and southern Missouri with severe weather once again across the southern USA. We have to watch this storm as a shift north by 100 miles will put us in heavier rain. It will not shift far enough north to bring severe weather. Highs will be in the 60s, 50s if there is more rain.
THURSDAY: This will be a nice spring day ahead of the next storm system. Lows will be 45-50 with highs in the 70s. An isolated shower or thunderstorm is possible.
FRIDAY: The next storm will move by and it looks like it will get its act together as it moves east of our region. So, we do have a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms, but the heaviest rain will most likely occur from around the Mississippi river and points east. The severe threat is pretty low around here. Highs will be in the 60s.
SATURDAY: The storm will intensify as it moves into the Great Lakes. There may even be some snow in Michigan. We will be breezy with lows in the 40s and highs in the 60s. It will be a nice day and Sunday looks nice as well with highs in the 60s.
RAINFALL FORECAST THE NEXT 7 DAYS: It now looks like we are in the .10" to 1" range with 1"-2" to the south. There will be pockets of 2"-3" from southwest Kansas to the east coast. It still looks like some decent rain for the dry areas of southwest Kansas. This is a shift south from the forecast yesterday. You can see a slight shift north and we go back into the heavier rain. We will see what it looks like tomorrow. It mostly depends on the track of the Wednesday system. Regardless of where the northern edge of the rain ends up, our severe threats this week are quite low.
Have a great Tuesday and stay healthy.
