Good morning bloggers,

It is Veterans Day and a cold Canadian air mass is blasting south. On this Veterans Day we would like to thank you for your sacrifices you take and the risks you make. We owe you our thanks, but more than that, we owe you our freedom. Thank you!!!! We have a cold air mass that is blasting south. In Kansas City, temperatures are dropping and snow was heading this way, as I was writing this at 6:30 this morning.

There is a band of snow just north and northwest of KC and it will track across the metro area between 8 AM and noon. With temperatures crashing this morning, as you can see below on the 11 AM temperature forecast map, the snow that falls will likely accumulate and create slick and hazardous conditions:

By early this afternoon, the snow will end, and there may even be some sunshine. Temperatures will stay below freezing, and possibly drop to as low as 7 degrees tonight.

Weather Timeline:

  • Now - Noon: Increasing areas of snow with accumulations of 1/2" to 1" expected. There will be some blowing of the snow with slick spots developing. Temperatures dropping to near 20 degrees with winds blowing from the north at 30 mph. This will cause very cold wind chills today.
  • Noon - 5 PM: Snow ending and decreasing clouds. A few slick spots out there for the evening rush ghour
  • Overnight: Clearing with temperatures dropping to near 10 degrees or lower.

The weather will improve by mid-week with a warm up. Watch 41 Action News for details through the day.
