Public works crews across the area are ready to handle Tuesday’s round of snow.

In Overland Park, snow plow drivers are reporting to work at 7:30 a.m.

The city says the streets are pre-treated, and that they still have salt from Sunday's light snow storm.

Crews typically spread 400 pounds of salt. There are lots of factors that go into how many resources should be used, including air and ground temps at the time, and future forecasts.

With a usual snow storm, Overland park will have more than 50 trucks out on the streets.

They'll start with clearing thoroughfares and collector streets, before moving into the neighborhoods.

Snow plows are 11-feet wide, which makes it difficult or close to impossible for crews to plow some narrow streets with cars on both sides.

It's a problem workers ran into last month.

The city is asking people to park cars on one side of a neighborhood street or park in driveways to allow snow plows to treat and plow roadways.

Now once the snow begins, the city will be updating their storm operations webpage which includes a map of the city and where plows are working.
