'Captain America: Civil War' is worth your money

There are so many superhero movies these days, that it almost gets overwhelming. After the disappointing 'Batman v. Superman,' I was almost ready to give up on the genre, but I am glad I didn’t. 'Captain America: Civil War' was far more enjoyable that I could have imagined.

The movie starts off with the Avengers chasing down some bad guys, and it leads to some unfortunate civilian deaths. This happens in all superhero movies, but is often not talked about or dealt with. This movie goes there, and it’s what rips the Avengers apart.

The U.N. steps in and wants to put some rules and regulations over the Avengers. Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man thinks it’s the right thing to do. He’s been confronted with the missteps of their heroic actions, and believes their best intentions need some reeling in. Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, doesn’t think so. He believes these sanctions will ultimately deter them from doing what the Avengers do best, which is save the world.

All of this leads to the so-called 'Civil War.' The Avengers take sides. Some are Team Iron Man, others are Team Cap.

What I like about this is that the movie covers the arguments well on both sides and does it in a manner that you can totally understand where each side is coming from.

It ultimately leads to a showdown between our superheroes, and it is awesome. I don’t care who you are — seeing Iron Man fight Captain America or any other Avenger is awesome.

What I love about the Marvel movies is the humor. There are some genuinely laugh-out-loud moments, and each character gets a moment to shine. We get to see so much more of their powers and their personalities than we have in some other films.

There are several standouts in this, the biggest being Tom Holland as the newest incarnation of Spider-Man. He is only in the film for a short time, he delivers. When I heard about another Spider-Man movie in the works, I definitely rolled my eyes. How many dang Spider-Man movies can we make? After seeing Holland, I am all for another one. He was great and I am excited to see his stand-alone film in 2017.

Kansas City native Paul Rudd is enjoyable, as always, as Ant-Man. The few scenes he is in, he really shines and there’s a fun moment during the big fight scene you’ll definitely love.

Overall, the movie is fun, funny and action-packed. There are some great fight scenes and some great character moments. I highly recommend this film, especially if you are a Marvel or superhero fan. It’s a great film to kick-off the summer movie season. Oh, and stick around for the credits. There are some extras!
