It’s time to get all lit up. Of course, I’m referring to your holiday lights.
We celebrated the first annual 50th and Westwood Holiday Lighting Wednesday morning!
Okay, it was really just one guy’s house on the corner of a street but still pretty spectacular.
Robert Million of Westlake Hardware was there, Santa hat and all, to let us know watt’s what.
He had some good basic rules for hanging holiday lights:
- Use a ladder and not a chair
- Have a spotter
- Invest in some plastic hooks and zip ties
- Use only stuff marked “outdoors” for the outdoors
- Go for big lights for outside
- Go for small lights for garland and wreaths
- 100 lights for every one and half feet of tree is the best formula
Mr. Million also had the latest technology on hand, including WiOn which lets you turn things on from your smart phone or iPad.
And, projection lighting…installed in about five minutes…that makes your entire house a glittering, sparkling display even Clark Griswold would envy.
The bottom line: Be safe and be creative. Santa will be sure to find your house on Christmas Eve.
