The Winds of Aphrodite is a perfect example of how to turn something boring into something awesome.

The Winds of Aphrodite hides the loading dock at Bartle Hall. So, instead of seeing overflowing dumpsters and semi trucks, you get a view of the massive sculpture when exiting the highway.

It was designed by Chinese artist Suikang Zhao. She said she wanted it to look like a giant piece of fabric was flying through the sky and got stuck on the building.

Depending on the way light is hitting the building and from what direction you’re looking, the steel can have several different appearances. But the real show is at night when it is lit up by computer-controlled LED lights.
