Like many teams, the Kansas Jayhawks have a quarterback competition heading into the fall season.

Carter Stanley took over midseason for the Jayhawks in 2016 and led them to an upset win over Texas.

But Peyton Bender, a junior college transfer, is entering as a fellow contender.

"Those two guys live together. They are really really close friends," said third-year Head Coach David Beaty. "If you just look at our league over the last two to three years, very few of us have been able to go the entire schedule with just one guy playing the entire year."

Also new to Lawrence is Offensive Coordinator Doug Meacham. TCU, Houston, Oklahoma State -- wherever Meacham goes, big numbers follow.

"Always wanted to work with the guy," said Beaty. "When I first got to Kansas, I called him ten times. I said, 'Look, you can have all the money. I'll hire everybody else for a dollar.'"
