A Johnson County judge on Thursday combined the cases of two murder suspects for a preliminary hearing.

James and Dale Willis are being held on $15 million bond.

Law enforcement sources tell 41 Action News both men are being held in connection with the shooting death of Jurl Carter. Back in September, the Olathe man was killed outside of the Roxy night club in Overland Park.

Police charged 33-year-old Dale Willis, of Kansas City, Mo., with murder in the first degree in mid-December. On New Year’s Eve, police arrested James Willis and also charged him with first-degree murder.

At Thursday morning’s hearing, Dale Willis’ attorney tried to reduce that bond down to $50,000. But Judge Thomas Kelly Ryan denied that request.

Ryan did set aside Feb. 9 & 10 at 9 a.m. for the suspects' preliminary hearing.
