You can find anything and everything for any and every kind of home at the KC Remodel and Garden Show this weekend at the American Royal Center.
But, proving good things come in small packages, the container homes may just steal the whole show.
According to Lon Holden of Custom Container Living in Archie, Mo., shipping containers are providing unique, energy efficient and stylish homes for more and more people.
There are about 30 million steel shipping containers in existence. Eight feet wide by 8 ½ feet high and either 20 or 40 feet long, these metal boxes can become mini-mansions with a little imagination.
The smaller of the two at this weekend’s show is priced at around $35,000, but there is a special show price available.
By the way, don’t forget to stop by the custom-built dog houses.
Among the pooch palaces is one inspired by Crystle Lampitt of 38 The Spot and another created by the Diva of DIY, Leanne Lea, for Kansas City Live.
