LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. -- A 36-year-old man was killed after a two-vehicle crash in Lee's Summit on Saturday afternoon.

Tracy J. Pycior of Independence, Missouri was identified as the victim.

The crash happened around 4:15 p.m. in the area of northeast Leinweber Road and northeast Todd George Parkway.

According to the Lee's Summit Police Department, a Chevrolet Express van carrying four adults and eight children was going westbound on Leinweber Road when it failed to stop at a stop sign. The van hit a pickup truck going north through the intersection.

There were three occupants in the truck, officials said.

The force of the crash caused both vehicles to spin in the roadway and three people were ejected from the van.

Pycior was in the van and was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Eight other occupants of the van and one occupant of the truck were taken to the hospital with injuries ranging from minor to serious.

The accident is under investigation.
