UPDATE, 2:05PM | Police say they have taken one person into custody.

EARLIER | KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A possible barricaded subject in Overland Park has forced Blue River Elementary School and Blue Valley Middle School to wait while police make contact with the subject.

Overland Park Police were called to a residence at 164th and Birch just after noon on Thursday after receiving a 9-1-1 call about a disagreement inside of a house.

The person who called 9-1-1 said they thought they heard a gunshot.

Police responded to the house but have not been able to make contact with a male subject inside.

Two nearby schools are monitoring the situation.

A Blue Valley School District spokeswoman says classes are continuing as normal but students are not being allowed outside.
