A U.S. Senator and Hillary Clinton's former running mate spoke in Overland Park Saturday.
Virginia Senator and Johnson County native Tim Kaine was the keynote speaker at the Johnson County Democratic Gala.
Former U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom and local entertainer Missy Koonce emceed the event.
This is the Johnson County Democrat's biggest fundraiser each year for the more than 20,000 registered democrats in the county.
During the 2016 election, Kansas Democrats gained more legislative seats than any other state in the nation.
More of those seats came from Johnson County than any other county in the state.
The Gala was at the Overland Park Convention Center.
Individual tickets cost $150.
For a table of 10 it was $1,500.
