Authorities are looking for a male suspect that escaped from a house during a police standoff in KCK.

Officers were called to a domestic dispute in the 600 block of South 72nd Street shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday morning.

According to police, a male suspect showed up to the house of an ex and demanded that she let him inside the home.

Once she let the male suspect inside, a fight ensued and the man threatened to kill the woman before shooting several rounds of ammunition within the home.

The woman was able to get out of the house safely, but her 14-year-old son was held hostage by his father for several hours.

The 14-year-old boy is the son of both the male suspect and woman. Officers believe there is some kind of custody battle going on between the two.

The teen is now safely out of the residence.

Officers searched the home and did not find the suspect. They are now looking for him as they continue the investigation.

A SWAT team is on the scene. There have been no reported injuries.
