Vandals shot holes into an off-duty Wyandotte County Sheriff deputy's car Wednesday morning.

No one was in the car at the time of the incident in the 2500 block of North 57th Street.

A neighbor heard gunfire and called police between 6:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to a sheriff's department spokesperson.

The deputy came outside shortly before police arrived and found the damage.

This is the second time vandals damaged a law enforcement target in recent days.

Police are still looking for suspects after someone posted expletive-filled graffiti late July 31 on the Kansas City Kansas Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 4.
