Players wore a special patch that looked like a KCK police badge with a mourning band on their jerseys for the game. On Saturday, Captain Melton was laid to rest and hundreds filled Children's Mercy Park (where Sporting KC plays) to pay their respects at his funeral.
According to the Sporting KC Twitter account, the jerseys will be auctioned off to benefit Captain Melton’s family. Forty percent of the proceeds from the 4-3-3 Raffle conducted by The Victory Project during Sunday’s game will also go to the family.
Jerseys start at $100 and you can bid on them, here.
All jerseys will be auctioned off to benefit Captain Melton's family as well as proceeds from the 433 auction. Follow @victorykc for info.
