Man charged after bribing Missouri Highway Patrol officers with $2,000 after traffic stop

A Florida man is accused of trying to bribe highway patrol officers after a traffic stop in Platte County. 

Stephen T. Medley, 29, of Tallahassee, Florida allegedly offered the three Missouri Highway Patrol officers $2,000 in cash after he was pulled over on Interstate 29 due to having windows that were too tinted too dark. 

Medley allegedly gave a false name to an officer after he was pulled over.

According to court documents, he told the officers to take "all his money and let him walk away." 

When officers searched his vehicle, they found found $2,092 in cash, about two pounds of marijuana, an ounce of cocaine, and a loaded handgun, officials said. 

Charges against Medley were filed on Monday. He is charged with the felonies of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, unlawful possession of a weapon, and bribery of a public servant.

The most serious charge is a class B felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
