One man is dead after a Monday afternoon house fire in Cass County.
The fire broke out at about 12:30 p.m. in the 20000 block of S. Carriage Lane.
Deputies arrived on the scene after a neighbor reported the fire. They found a single-story residence engulfed in smoke and flames.
Firefighters arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. Crews found a victim inside.
Detectives will work with the Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office to determine the identity of the victim. There were no other reported injuries, and the victim was the only person in the home at the time of the fire.
Detectives and fire services are investigating the fatal fire.
