Missouri game officials say 96,131 deer were killed during the opening weekend of firearms deer season, which is slightly more than last year's opening weekend.

Over 55,000 of deer killed by hunters on Nov. 12 and Nov. 13 were antlered bucks. Over 31,500 of the deer were does.

The Missouri Department of Conservation says hunter reports filed through mid-morning Monday, boosted the total number to 100,777 deer.

The season runs through Nov. 22. Archery deer season will open again Nov. 23 and run through Jan. 15.
