When you're the 41 Five-Star Hy-Vee Athlete of the Week, the letters and phone calls come from all over the country.
At Olathe North, safety Isaiah Simmons is meeting coaches and recruiters from schools nationwide and rattles them off with ease: Illinois, Louisville, Mizzou, Nebraska, and Arizona State.
At 6'4”, 210 pounds, it's easy to see why everyone is in the hunt for Simmons, who's getting it done on the field and in the classroom.
"He's real intelligent. He's got great grades, he has a large group of friends,” said Eagles Head Coach Chris McCartney. "He has several groups that he hangs out with. I see him walking around the building and it will be a group of kid's that’s completely different from the one I saw him with before."
Wherever Simmons winds up, he plans to study business and find a way to make a difference.
"I want to make sure that I get a good education in case football doesn’t play out all the way through,” said Simmons. "I will have a backup plan, but other than that I want to make sure I fit in the program and it suits me."
