Seven Kansas City YMCA locations offer child care so parents can vote in peace

Seven Kansas City YMCAs are doubling as polling places November 8, and they're using their on-site daycare centers to help out parents.

The rules vary by location, but parents can drop off their children while they cast their ballots. Some locations only allow parents who are voting on-site to use the service, while others allow anyone to drop off their child. Fees and hours also vary by location.

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW: The voting who, what, when, where, why, and how

But no matter the location, the service is available to both members and non-members. The goal is to give parents a little quiet time while they flex their democratic rights.

"Parents come in with their toddlers and it's stressful because you are trying to keep their toddlers in line when you are trying to get in there to vote and read all the initiatives," said Joan Scare with the North Kansas City YMCA. "This is a chance for those parents to eliminate that stress of the child, plus the child will have fun in here."
