Reporter

Emma James started her career at KSHB in August 2019.
She is a proud graduate of the Missouri School of Journalism.
Emma came to KC after working as a multimedia journalist and weekend anchor/producer at KDRV NewsWatch 12 in Medford, Oregon. Prior to that, she worked at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri as a multimedia journalist, producer and anchor.

She loves meeting people in the community and forming new relationships. One of her favorite parts of the job is meeting new people and sharing their stories. She will happily talk to viewers who stop to say hi when she’s out and about.

The move away from home to work in Oregon was hard, but Emma feels lucky she experienced that part of the country. She was born and raised in the Midwest, and is excited to be closer to her family. Being away from them was a challenge! However, she’s proud she went out of her comfort zone and encourages everyone to do the same.

Now that Emma is in KC, she’s enjoying exploring the city and it’s history. She loves that her new community is a big city with a small town feel. She likes walking around the Plaza, finding local coffee shops, and can’t wait to check out the food scene. If you know any good hiking spots – send them her way!

She keeps up on shows like Parks and Rec, The Bachelor, Friends, and Game of Thrones. Emma’s been a Harry Potter fan her whole life, and also loves 13 Going on 30 , A League of Their Own, and any of the Marvel movies. Her book tastes revolve around the news, she enjoyed “Settle for More” by Megyn Kelly, “What Unites Us” by Dan Rather, and “Hoda: How I Survived War Zones, Bad Hair, Cancer, and Kathie Lee” by Hoda Kotb.
