Good Wednesday bloggers,
We have been trying to figure out whether this first storm will affect us today or stay to the south. It is now clear, based on radar and new data, that the rain is on the way. It will arrive from the southwest between 10 AM and noon. The rain will end about 10 PM to midnight tonight, so about 12 hours of rain and a few thunderstorms. There will be times when the rain is scattered.
It does look like the northern edge will be around highway 36, so St. Joseph is literally on the northern edge of the rain. Temperatures will be 55-60 where it is raining and 65-70 where it is not. So, the areas that had 3"-10" of snow (northern Missouri) a few days ago will be the warmest today. Southern Iowa will see highs 75-80!
Rainfall along and south of I-70 could be .50" to 2". North of I-70 amounts will range from .10" to 1". North of highway 36 may see a few drops or perhaps .05" to .25" if a few showers and thunderstorms wander up there.
The severe threat with this storm will be well south, from Oklahoma to Texas, east to Mississippi.
Thursday will be a nice day and then we will be tracking the second system of the week. It arrives Thursday night and Friday bringing a chance of showers and a few thunderstorms. It looks like the majority of the rain will stay across central and eastern Missouri. We will have and update on this blog this afternoon.
Have a great Wednesday.
