KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Three people were taken into custody after a high-speed chase that spanned three cities and crossed state lines Monday afternoon.

Independence police were called to the Sam’s Club on Bolger Road on a shoplift/strong-armed robbery around 1:15 p.m.

Officers spotted the suspect vehicle, a black Chevy Tahoe, getting onto I-70 and pursued the SUV.

The chase went through Independence, Kansas City, Missouri, and Kansas City, Kansas. Speeds reached 90 mph.

Near 18th and Oakley Avenue, the SUV hopped a curb and nearly crashed into a house before coming to a stop.

Dorian Duron and his brother were in their truck on Oakley when it happened.

"It was, I would say, kind of like a movie," Duron said of the scene.

Police said three suspects jumped out of the Tahoe. Two were captured, but a third got into a black Monte Carlo and sped off again. It’s unknown if the suspect entered the car by force.

The suspect was driven to 10th and Mildred in KCK where he got out of the car. He went into a duplex in the area, and he was later arrested by police.

"You have two helicopters going around, and you have about 40 patrols over here. You know, that's pretty scary," Duron said of Monday's chase.

Luckily no one was hurt. The incident left Duron a little surprised, not because there was a car chase on his street, but because of the day on which it all happened.

"Who's going to expect something like this on a Monday? I would say maybe Friday night or something like that, but not a Monday," he said while shaking his head.

The suspects' names and possible charges have not yet been released.
