Reporter

Megan Abundis joined the KSHB 41 team in August of 2021.

She was raised in the Pacific Northwest and attended Washington State University, The Edward R. Murrow the College of Communication. Her favorite part of college was cheerleading and studying abroad on journalism trips to Havana, Cuba, Kathmandu, Nepal and various parts of Western Europe. She was a reporter for KOB in Albuquerque, New Mexico and KSBY in San Luis Obispo, California, where she won awards for her breaking news coverage.

Megan is excited to be here and tell your stories, the proud Kansas City community is what drew her to the area. She’s covered many important issues such as crime, prison reform, teen crime and environmental disasters from mudslides to wildfires. Megan knows from experience how tragedies can impact communities and some days journalism can feel heavy. Other days, she appreciates the lighter side, getting to laugh, learn from others and find out what it’s like to be in someone else’s shoes. It’s life reflecting on a screen and that’s what she loves about her job!

In her spare time, Megan stays active and enjoys exploring new places with her dog, Baker. You might find her at Legacy Park, Rock Ledges Trail, CharBar and GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. She can’t live without her podcast app, Liane Moriarty books and Netflix.
